2 Indian crew on cruise ship off Japanese coast test positive for coronavirus!!

Two Indians, part of the crew of a cruise ship that is docked off the Japanese coast, have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the Indian embassy said on Wednesday. The Diamond Princess cruise ship with 3,711 people on board include 138 Indians including passengers and crew.

The ship was quarantined last week off the Japanese coast after a passenger who had de-boarded last month in Hong Kong was found to be the carrier of the virus on the ship.

'Due to the suspicion of novel coronavirus (nCoV) infection, the ship has been quarantined by the Japanese authorities till February 19, 2020,' the embassy said in a statement, according to news agency PTI.

'Altogether 174 people have been tested positive for nCoV, including two Indian crew members,' it said.
The statement further said that the infected were taken to hospitals for adequate treatment, including further quarantine, in accordance with the Japanese health protocol.

The death toll in the novel coronavirus, which was first reported in China's Hubei province, has reached 1,113 in mainland China and has infected over 44,000 people globally.

The World Health Organization has named the illness as COVID-19.
