Fined for not wearing face masks

 

A group of 40 people who ignored the need to wear face masks and frequented shops and public places in the Polgahawela town were produced before Polgahawela Magistrate P.N.Priyadarshani who imposed a fine of Rs.5000 each on 30 of them. 

The cases against the other ten suspects were postponed and they were ordered to appear in court when informed. Area PHI Mahesh Amakara told court that the suspects were liable to legal action under the recent gazette notification relating to health guidelines.  

A senior official of the Polgahawela MOH office said raids to take legal action against individuals violating health guidelines would continue.
