Ex-female councillor arrested with illegally assembled car in Colombo

 The Police Special Task Force (STF) arrested a former female councillor of the Colombo Municipal Council in Colombo 13 with a car assembled in Sri Lanka in violation of customs and related laws.

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that the 56-year old woman was arrested based on information received by the intelligence units of the Police Special Task Force.

Investigations revealed that the vehicle was assembled in Sri Lanka with spare parts brought down from oberseas violating customs regulations. 

DIG Rohana said the woman did not posses any legal document to prove ownership to the vehicle.

The suspect was handed over to the Fore Shore Police to be produced before the Hulftsdorp Magistrate today (27).
