Gampaha tops list among highest COVID cases reported yesterday: NOCPCO

Following the record 3,443 COVID positive cases for the last 24-hours, Gampaha district recorded the highest number of cases with 882 among other districts, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said.

They said the Colombo district recorded the second-highest at 673 and 287 cases reported from Kalutara District. The rest 1,658 cases have been reported from the other districts yesterday.

The country saw a total number of 154,785 COVID cases and 57,803 of those have emerged from the New year cluster.

The total COVID death toll has surged to 1,089 with the 38 deaths reported during the last 24-hours.

Police jurisdictions including Palali, Palali North, Kalkuda, Kalmadu, Sevanagala, Kiriwewa, Bahirawa, Habaraththawela, Habarugala, Mahagama and Indikolapelessa have been isolated from this morning. 

Meanwhile, isolation in 28 Grama Niladhari (GN) divisions in three police jurisdictions have been lifted from this morning.

Accordingly, the Pannala police area and 199 GN divisions in 18 police areas remain in the status of isolation.
