President orders authorities to impose travel restrictions until May 30

 President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has given appropriate instructions to impose travel restrictions among all provinces until May 30 in order to curb the rapidly spreading COVID-19, the President’s Media Division said.

It said the President has also given instructions to cancel all gatherings and functions and also to limit the number of people who can visit the commercial establishments.

Instructions have also been given to isolate the areas where infected people are found in large numbers.

However, the President emphasised that proper procedures should be adopted to ensure the day-to-day lives of the people are not disrupted and that the essential services are maintained smoothly when imposing these restrictions.

The President expressed confidence that the people of our country will act responsibly by falling in line with the guidelines issued by the Government.

These decisions have been taken during the discussions between the President and all stakeholders to bring COVID-19 to an end.
