SL Wrestling team manager vanished during WWC in Norway!!

The manager in charge of the Sri Lankan Wrestling team, Donald Indrawansa left the team and gone missing during World Wrestling Championships held in Oslo, Norway, Sri Lanka Wrestling Association (SLWA) President Sarath Hewawitharana said.

The SLWA sent a five-member contingent for the 17th World Wrestling Championships held in Oslo in Norway from October 2 to 10.

Mr. Hewawitharana said that a total number of 44 Sri Lankan wrestlers and officials who represented Sri Lanka at various tournaments around the world vanished from the team and disappeared during the tournament up to date.

He said that many Sri Lankan wrestlers and officials who fled the country are now back in Sri Lanka, but steps are being taken to prevent the recent escapee Donald Indrawansa from re-entering Sri Lanka.

It was reported that the Immigration and Emigration Department officials at the airport have found three passports in the manager's luggage when the Sri Lankan wrestling team arrived at the Katunayake International Airport on October 1 to leave for Norway.

Mr. Hewawitharana said the manager had stolen the money allocated for PCR tests for the wrestlers.

The Sri Lankan wrestling team returned to the country this morning without the manager. (T.K.G. Kapila)
