Over 9,000 foreign tourists visited Sri Lanka last week: Tourism Minister

 

Tourism Minister Prasanna Rantunga said 9,545 foreign tourists visited Sri Lanka last week.

According to the Minister 3,107 of them were Indians, 774 from Russia, 764 from Britain as well as a large number of tourists from Germany, Pakistan, Maldives, France, Canada, USA and Switzerland.

The Minister pointed out that with the opening of the country, tourist arrivals has started to increase.

The Minister expressed confidence that the tourism industry can make a significant contribution to revive the economy by the end of next year if the country is able to continue without restrictions.
