LTTE uniforms, weapons, human skeletons unearthed in Muhamalai

 Several LTTE uniforms and cache of weapons along with human skeletal remains were found buried while clearing a mine in the Muhamalai area in Kilinochchi yesterday (11), police said.

 These were recovered by a group of NGO members who were engaged in demining operations in the area and alerted the Palai Police about the discovery of human skeletal remains and weapons.

Accordingly, a human skull, several other skeletons, an LTTE outfit and an RPG, RPG bullet and a bullet magazine were found on the scene.

Moreover, further excavations are to be carried out at the site to find any more human skeletal remains and weapons as per the court order issued by the Killinochchi Magistrate's Court.

On several previous occasions, many human skeleton and weapons were found buried in the Muhamalai area. (Romesh Madushanka)
