Need a minimum bus fare hike: IPPBA

 

The Inter-Provincial Private Bus Association (IPPBA) today claimed that they need a minimum fare increase if the government does not consider allowing concessions, IPPBA Association's Secretary Anjana Priyanjith said.

He told the Daily Mirror that the private bus industry was going to collapse with the sudden fuel price increase.

Therefore, the IPPBA is requesting a diesel concession to protect the public transport industry. If not, there should be an increase in the minimum bus fare to Rs. 25, which is currently at Rs.14, and to increase the total bus fare by 25 percent.
