Solution to minimize congestion at Trincomalee district general hospital!!
Due to the prevailing congestion at the Trincomalee general hospital, attention has been drawn to moving the hospital to a separate location, the Health Ministry said.
They said the decision was taken due to several issues, including the lack of sufficient land area for the hospital's premises and the existence of a sea border.
A discussion was held between Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella and Eastern Province Governor Anuradha Yahampath yesterday at the ministry.
During the discussion, it was revealed that the buildings attached to the hospital were more than 100 years old, and due to the existing situation, it was clear that there was no space to build any other building on the premises.
Rs. 2.2 billion was received for the hospital project under the JICA project. Therefore, attention was drawn to the building of other buildings in the Siddapura area in the Trincomalee district. Other than the District General Hospital, there are four base hospitals , 14 provincial hospitals, and 17 primary health care units available in the district.
While considering all the facts, Minister Rambukwella pointed out that construction of the building should be done immediately in three phases. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
