DMT will not function on Fridays until further notice

 

The Motor Traffic Department will be closed on Fridays until further notice, unless a public holiday falls on any other working day except Friday.

Its Commissioner General Sumith C. K. Alahakoon said the decision was taken as a result of the issues related transport and fuel supply restrictions in the country. Therefore, the officers of this department are unable to use public and/or private transport facilities, he said.

Accordingly, as per Public Administration Circulars issued on June 27 by the Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils, and Local Government Ministry Secretary, it was decided not to open this department on Fridays.

The DMT requested people to contact the department office for any clarification regarding our services, through the telephone numbers from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm on working days. For vehicle registrations and transfers - 070 7 677 877, for driving licenses, - 070 7 677 977.

It is also requested people to send inquiries via WhatsApp/ Viber/ SMS to the above numbers during non-working hours.
