Study Trip to Switzerland for Sri Lankan politicians: an immersive look at the Swiss political system

Background and objectives of the study trip

In 2026, Sri Lanka and Switzerland will mark a significant milestone—70 years of diplomatic relations. Overthe decades, our two countries have enjoyed warm, cooperative, and enduring ties. The revival of the SriLanka–Switzerland Parliamentary FriendshipAssociation in April 2025 stands as a testament to thisfriendship and our mutual commitment to further strengthening bilateral engagement.In this spirit, and in anticipation of the 70th anniversary, the Government of Switzerland in collaboration withthe Sri-Lanka Switzerland Parliamentary Friendship Association is pleased to host to a study visit toSwitzerland. This visit will provide an opportunity for Sri Lankan politicians to gain in-depth, first-hand insightsinto the Swiss political system and engage in meaningful exchanges.At a time when Sri Lanka is embarking on a process of political reforms, we believe this visit could offervaluable perspectives and insights from the Swiss political system—particularly in fostering national unityamong diverse cultural and linguistic communities. The programme will also cover asset recovery and otherareas of interest.
