Probe launched on spam mails trying to create public unrest: Nalinda

While confirming that an investigation has been launched into the emails received by various government institutions on hoax bomb threats,
Cabinet Spokesman Nalinda Jayatissa said yesterday no update is available on the investigations as yet.
The Minister told the weekly briefing to announce cabinet decisions that emails on bomb scares had been received by Kandy District Secretariat, Pujapitiya, Nawalapitiya and Pasbage Koprale divisional secretariats and Qatar Airways flight on December 26.
He said an investigation has been launched by the police Cyber Crimes Investigation Division into the incident on suspicion of attempt to create public unrest.
Responding to a question on information revealed by the police that the emails had been originated from a foreign country, he did not comment on it saying that the police had not informed of it him as the cabinet spokesman.
