Showers and strong winds forecast across several provinces

 

 The Department of Meteorology has forecast several spells of showers for the Northern, North-central, Eastern, Uva, and Central provinces, as well as the Hambantota district.

Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places in Sabaragamuwa province and in the Galle, Matara, and Kalutara districts after 2.00 p.m., with fairly heavy rainfall above 50 mm possible in some areas.

Fairly strong winds of around 40 kmph may occur at times over the eastern slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces, and in the Hambantota, Monaragala, and Trincomalee districts.

Misty conditions are likely at some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, and in the Galle and Matara districts during early morning hours.

The public is advised to take precautions against temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers to minimize potential damage.
