Weekend Sports Guide for Sri Lankans

 






 Sri Lankan sports fans have a packed week ahead, with Premier League football spread across several nights, international T20 cricket in India, the Under-19 Asia Cup continuing in Dubai, and global attention on the World Darts Championship in London.

     Premier League Fixtures     

The English Premier League resumes on Saturday, December 13, with two evening matches.

Chelsea host Everton at 8.30 pm, with both sides looking to improve their league position as the busy December schedule gathers pace. At the same time, Liverpool take on Brighton, a fixture that has produced competitive encounters in recent seasons.

Action continues into the early hours of Sunday, December 14, when Arsenal face Wolves at 1.30 am. Arsenal will be expected to control proceedings, but Wolves have shown resilience against stronger opponents this season.

Later on Sunday evening, two matches kick off at 7.30 pm. Crystal Palace welcome Manchester City, a challenging away fixture for the champions, while Nottingham Forest host Tottenham Hotspur, with Spurs seeking consistency as the league table begins to take clearer shape.

The round concludes early on Tuesday, December 16, when Manchester United play Bournemouth at Old Trafford, with kick-off at 1.30 am Sri Lanka time.

      Cricket: India–South Africa T20 Series      

Cricket fans can look forward to the third T20 International between India and South Africa on Sunday, December 14, starting at 7.00 pm in Dharamsala.

The five-match series is currently tied at 1–1, making this encounter an important one as both teams look to gain momentum heading into the latter stages of the tour.

      Under-19 Asia Cup in Dubai      

The Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 is currently underway in Dubai, featuring teams from Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Nepal and Malaysia.

The tournament provides valuable exposure for young players across the region, with Sri Lanka’s Under-19 side aiming to make a strong impression against Asia’s leading youth teams.  

      World Darts Championship      

Away from football and cricket, the World Darts Championship is taking place in London, drawing global interest as the sport’s top players compete in one of the calendar’s biggest events.

With Premier League football stretching across multiple days, international cricket action, youth tournaments, and major events in other sports, it promises to be an engaging week for Sri Lankan sports followers.
