Former Minister Johnston Fernando was arrested by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) this morning (05) in connection with an ongoing investigation.

The former Minister arrived at the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) this morning (05).

Police had earlier stated that Johnston Fernando had been summoned to appear before the FCID today, warning that an arrest warrant would be sought from court if he failed to comply.

The investigation concerns allegations that the former Minister caused financial losses to the government by misusing a lorry belonging to Lanka Sathosa. Authorities have already initiated steps to take legal action as part of the probe.
