Marasinghe appointed Director General of Wildlife Conservation

M.S.L.R.P. Marasinghe has been appointed as the Director General of the Department of Wildlife Conservation with effect from January 1.
The appointment was made by Minister of Environment Dr. Dhammika Patabedee.
Marasinghe joined the Department of Wildlife Conservation in September 1998 as an Assistant Director of Scientific Services and has since served in several senior positions, including Deputy Director, Director (Operations) and Additional Director (Technology).
He is a graduate in Agriculture from the University of Peradeniya and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management from the same university. He also possesses a Master of Science degree in Forestry and Environmental Management from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, a Bachelor of Information Technology degree from the University of Colombo and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Open University.
Marasinghe has received extensive professional training in wildlife management, including a Postgraduate Diploma from the Wildlife Institute of India. He becomes the 35th Head of the Department of Wildlife Conservation.
