Singapore airlines adds afternoon flights to Colombo from June 1!!


Singapore Airlines has commenced an additional afternoon flight service between Sri Lanka and Singapore, increasing its operations to three extra flights per week with effect from June 1, marking another milestone in its 52 years of service between the two countries by 2026.

Singapore Airlines Managing Director Wasantha Kudaliyanage said that the airline has deployed a wide-body Airbus A350-900 aircraft to operate the new afternoon service every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from Singapore’s Changi International Airport to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake.

Until now, a state-of-the-art Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner has been operating daily, arriving at Katunayake Airport at 11.30 p.m. from Singapore. With the expanded schedule, the A350-900 now arrives in Colombo at 10.45 a.m. on the selected days.

The inaugural afternoon flight, Singapore Airlines flight SQ-463, arrived at Katunayake Airport at 10.45 a.m. on June 1, carrying 210 passengers, 14 flight crew members and 12 metric tonnes of cargo. The aircraft departed for Singapore at 12.45 p.m. the same day with 276 passengers, 14 crew members and 14 metric tonnes of cargo.

With the expanded schedule, Singapore Airlines is set to operate daily services with two flights each day, including afternoon and evening operations, from May onwards, further strengthening air connectivity between Sri Lanka and Singapore.
