US action on Venezuela cannot be approved: Rajitha

 

Action by the United States to invade Venezuela cannot be approved by anyone, a prominent member of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s camp said today.

“Such actions by the USA cannot be justified. If this continues, any country could invade another at will,” former MP Rajitha Senaratne told a media briefing.

However, he also noted that Venezuela’s internal problems had contributed significantly to the current crisis. 

“Venezuela should not have focused on radical reforms,” he said. 

“Instead, it should have followed the path taken by countries such as China, which practices social democracy rather than rigid socialism.”

Senaratne emphasised that balanced economic and political reforms were essential to avoid instability and external intervention.
