Sri Lanka wins Luxury Food Destination award in UK

 

 Sri Lanka has won the ‘Luxury Food Destination of the Year’ award at the Travel & Taste Awards 2026 held in the United Kingdom.

The award was presented by Chief Organiser of the Travel & Taste Awards, Alex Crosley, at Sri Lanka’s tourism promotion stand during the World Travel Market exhibition.

Deputy Minister of Tourism Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe accepted the award on behalf of the Sri Lankan people.

The Travel & Taste Awards recognise leading food-related travel experiences and destinations across 17 categories. Winners are selected by a panel of food and travel experts.

The judges highlighted Sri Lanka’s growing number of boutique hotel groups, its vibrant culinary scene and the use of local produce in its food offerings.

The recognition is expected to strengthen Sri Lanka’s position as a luxury food and travel destination and support efforts to attract more international tourists seeking quality dining and unique travel experiences.

The award also recognises the island’s diverse cuisine, traditional flavours and rich food heritage.
