If Prez remains keeps mum, massive TU action may turn into large scale struggle: TUCC

 

Another massive trade union action to be launched tomorrow (13) in front of the Presidential Secretariat will force President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to step down, the Trade Union Coordination Centre (TUCC) convener Wasantha Samarasinghe said.

He told the media that their countrywide trade union action was called off yesterday after the resignation of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa from the post and considering the current situation the country is facing.

Samarasinghe called the President to resign from the post immediately without wasting time. 

"Several political movements in this country have presented their proposals to commence the restoration process in the country. Therefore, the country should go for any kind of solution. "We should not let the country go astray any longer," he said.

Therefore, we have decided to launch a massive trade union action tomorrow at 2.00 pm in front of the Presidential Secretariat, he said. 

If the President does not resign and still remain silent, we will convert this massive trade union action into a massive people's struggle, Samarasinghe warned.
