More than 2,000 people affected by inclement weather

 

More than 2,000 people had been affected due to floods following heavy rains experienced in the past few days, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.

As per their report, 2,352 people from 601 families in the Sabaragamuwa and Western Province.

2,290 people from 585 families were affected in the Ratnapura district and 62 people from 16 families were affected in the Kalutara district, the DMC said.

82 houses were partially damaged due to flood and squall, they said.

Moreover, the DMC said 25 people from seven families have been sent to three safety locations in the Ratnapura district.
