Cinnamon Grand Colombo issues clarification on ‘NE-YO Live in Sri Lanka’ concert

Cinnamon Grand Colombo has issued a clarification addressing public concerns surrounding the cancelled or disrupted “NE-YO Live in Sri Lanka” concert, acknowledging the disappointment and frustration felt by fans who had eagerly anticipated the event.
In a statement, the hotel said its involvement in the concert was strictly limited to that of Hospitality Partner, with responsibilities confined to providing accommodation, hosting the official press conference, and offering catering services at the event venue.
Cinnamon Grand Colombo categorically stated that it had no role in the organisation of the concert, including artist engagement, scheduling, ticket sales, promotions, or overall event management. The hotel emphasized that it was not an organiser, promoter, co-producer, or manager of the event.
According to the statement, the concert was fully conceptualised, organised, and managed by Brown Boy (Private) Limited, under the direction of Mr. Amith Chandika Boteju and Mr. Champike Munasinghe. The hotel further clarified that it had no financial involvement in ticket sales, fund collection, production costs, or any other financial aspects related to the concert.
All matters concerning ticketing, refunds, scheduling changes, postponements, event execution, and grievances raised by ticket holders fall entirely under the responsibility of the organisers, the statement said. Cinnamon Grand Colombo added that it had no oversight, authority, or decision-making power in relation to these matters.
Reaffirming its position as a leading hotel and destination brand in Colombo, Cinnamon Grand Colombo said it supports entertainment and tourism initiatives that enhance the city’s appeal as a vibrant hub for tourism, business, and culture, while maintaining clear boundaries regarding operational and financial responsibility.
The hotel also expressed its support for appropriate action to resolve the situation swiftly in the interest of fans and to restore confidence in Colombo as a destination for international entertainment and tourism events.
