Police search suspect in Mawathagama acid attack
Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted in connection with an acid attack on a woman in Mawathagama on December 10, 2025.
According to Mawathagama Police, the suspect has fled the area and is currently in hiding. The incident has been reported to the Pilassa Magistrate’s Court, and arrest warrants have been issued by both the Ratnapura and Kalawana Magistrate’s Courts.
The suspect has been identified as Abeysinghe Don Mangala Pushpakumara Abeysinghe, a resident of Weddagala North, Kalawana.
