Five injured as bus topples in Nochchiyagama
A private bus which had been travelling from Jaffna to Colombo has toppled in Lidewa area in Nochchiyagama as the driver had failed to control the speed due to heavy rainfall, said Ada Derana reporter.
The accident has taken place at around 5.00 p.m. yesterday (05) and, reportedly, around 30 passengers were onboard at the time.
Five passengers have been wounded in the accident and were admitted to the Nochchiyagama Divisional Hospital.
One injured person, who is revealed to be the conductor of the bus, has been transferred to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital as he is in a critical condition.
Nochchiyagama Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
